Music Hubs are partnerships. They connect local expertise and opportunity so that no single organisation has to provide every part of music education alone.
Our relationship with the new Hub
Since the national restructure in September 2024, North Yorkshire Council has been the Hub Lead Organisation for the combined North Yorkshire and York area. York Music Education is not the HLO. We are an independent local music service, contributing through partnerships and commissioned activity while working with the Council as future delivery arrangements develop.
Our aim is to complement the regional strategy with strong local delivery: sustaining trusted relationships in York, making routes clear for families and schools, and ensuring investment reaches high-quality opportunities for children and young people.
What York Music Education contributes
- Instrumental and vocal tuition in schools and at York Music Centre
- Whole-class ensemble tuition and school music clubs
- Weekly ensembles and progression to York Youth Orchestra
- Instrument hire, storage and practical asset management
- Partnership projects with York's cultural organisations
- SpeedAdmin infrastructure for scheduling, communication and reporting
